We have been busy observing nature changes in our classroom. After we cut and cleaned out the seeds, we left the pumpkins for observation. After a week or so, we noticed a pecular smell and noticed that the shape of the pumpkin had changed as well as the texture. It became "squishy", "watery" "slimy" and "yucky". This big pumpkin was decomposing, or getting smaller. So we decided it was time to throw it away. Since we had a small pumpkin, we thought perhaps we could put it in a container to observe for a longer period of time. Stay tuned. So far we have seen lots of fruit flies, and black stuff.
I can't decide if that is gross or cool! I guess a little of both!
ReplyDeleteI love this experiment! Let us know if we can plant it again in the spring. It was really interesting to watch it grow again. We hope to get a pumpkin to grow next time.
