Camping out ~woo hoo

The Scientist lunch bunch friends have been asking for smores for quite some time. Finally, thou a cool day we decided it was time to have a camp out. Fire safety being of utmost importance, we had a discussion about fire safety and what we needed to do to build a camp fire. Friends said the we needed "matches to light the fire, sticks, bricks, and to put a circle next to the fire. Then came the ever important fire safety rules:
maybe we could put the marshmallow not near the fire, put candies close~but not inside the fire, hold the matches at the end, rocks to put out high flames, and water."

We quickly gathered all our supplies: rocks and small sticks aka kindling, and long sticks for roasting the marshmallows. What could we do to ensure that the sticks holding the marshmallows did not burn as we roasted our tasty treat? We soaked them in water for about 30 minutes and then we were ready. There was much excitement. Friends sat patiently waiting their turn, and telling stories around the campfire, and enjoyed their tasty treats. This reminded Ms. Maria of when her children were younger and in girl scouts.
