Using substitute objects in role play

In our study of play skill development of each child, we are observing how children use role play at school. One such skill is the verbalization about the play scenarios children are arranging. We look for children to describe substitute objects in play, describe imaginary objects and actions, and uses words to create a play scenario. Avram picked up a banana from the kitchen area, mentioned that he wanted to call his mom, dialed a few imaginary buttons, placed the stem into his ear and was soon chatting away with his mom.
