What makes kids successful in elementary school?

"[G]ood executive function is a better predictor of success in school than a child's IQ. Children who are able to manage their feelings and pay attention are better able to learn. As executive function researcher Laura Berk explains, "Self-regulation predicts effective development in virtually every domain." (NPR, February 21, 2008)

Did you know imaginative play is a critical part of how children learn self regulation skills? And that learning self regulation skills is critical to their school success going forward?

Listen and read the NPR article on the topic: Old Fashioned Play Builds Serious Skills
