A Package Arrived

A delivery man came to our door today with 14 huge boxes.  What could be in them?  The children in the Unicorn lunch bunch, always a curious group, wanted to know what was inside.  Olive helped me push the first box into the classroom.  What a heavy box!  We had to really stretch our muscles.  Julia and Sam G. opened the box and unpacked the padding.  Julia brought the box over to the rug.

Harper, Abby, Olive, Drew, Sam and Max pulled and pushed and finally got the big heavy thing out of the box.  "It's a table!" Sam said.  We put the table on the floor.  "What's wrong with this table?" I asked.  "It doesn't seem quite right."

"I know!" said Sam.  "We need chairs!"  So everyone pitched in brought over the chairs.  "How's that?" I asked.  "It still doesn't seem quite right."  We thought and thought.  Finally Max had an idea.  "It needs something to stand on!"  Ah ha!  We learned something funny.  Tables stand on legs, just like people.

The next task was figuring out how to get the legs onto the tables.  We screwed and screwed and finally they were all on.  Julia and Ellen flipped the tables over.  "We did it!  We made a table!" said Sam.  Excitement was in the air as the children pulled over their chairs and sat down to finish lunch.  Come by and see the results of our hard work.
