Adventures from Nature

Monday mornings are so much fun as children enter eager to share an adventure from home. Today was no exception. Eli, from the Haifa class, had some interesting news. He and his mom, Heidi were out on their porch and noticed something that was round. They weren't quite sure what it was, but thought it might be alive. Curious, they decided to poke it to see if it moved. Ever mindful of safety, they didn't touch it with their hands but with "something". Then it moved and its shape changed. It kept moving and went under the wood.
As I didn't have a clear picture of what this creature looked like, I asked Eli if he would like to draw it, as he saw it before and how it changed after it was touched. I asked Eli why he thought the shape changed, and he thought it was because it was "shocked" after they touched it. He agreed then went on to explain the process of his discovery. He wasn't quite sure what he found but he had an idea of what it might be after talking to mom.  He thought it might have been a newt. If you have any ideas to share, let us know.  Thank you Eli for sharing this new exciting discovery with me.
