Traveling "T"
Morning meetings are filled with different activities, greetings, calendar, planning, reading, singing, and movement, just to identify a few. Last week we asked the children to take an imaginary trip. I positioned my hands to demonstrate the letter "T", then asked children to think about taking a trip to "Toledo" and they were to try to think of things they could bring with them that had the same starting sound of "T". Before we started this journey they asked WHERE was Toledo?. Of course one would want to know where this imaginary destination was situated. I responded it is in Ohio. Next time we play this game we will be bringing a map to show our destination. This is just one of the fun activities we do to develop letter recognition and corresponding sound association. The children embraced this fun activity and came up with the following items to take: "a Tree, Turtle, Toast, Tie dye, Tuba, Tiger, Tomato, Torah, Teddy Bear, and Table. Stay tuned for more fun destinations.
