In honor of Earth Day this past week-end, the Levana class have a Recycle Area where children are encouraged to choose materials freely and create. There is styrofoam to cut, tape, break apart and stuff into plastic bottles. The Jewish holiday of Tu B'Shevat reminds us that it is our responsibility to care for the earth. Reusing and reinventing is a earth-friendly means of play.
Elias showed me his bottle filled with styrofoam on the way out. He was quite proud to have created it. I'm glad to understand the thinking behind it. Love the idea!
