Mystery backpack

We were getting ready to go inside and Dylan noticed there was a backpack hanging on the fence and all the children had left for the day. He immediately said that we needed to make a sign to remind people to take their back pack. We gathered the necessary materials and Dylan started on his helpful mission! Dylan was applying his knowledge of letters and sounds to approximate the spelling of the words he wanted to write. This approximated spelling will gradually become more conventional. It is important that we support children through this process of writing.

  1. Wow, Dylan! I am impressed. What a thoughtful kid you are!

And a great example of real life literacy learning!
