Preparing for Shabbat

Tomorrow is Shabbat, our first of the school year. We asked the children what we needed to do to prepare for our celebration? It is a special day in which our routines will change. We will eat as a community of boys and girls.

We need: " challah and grape juice, have candles, tablecloth, decorate the room, flowers in the middle of the table, we need 2 tables~no 3 tables. And off they went to move the tables around to be ready for Shabbat tomorrow.

This was hard work, but they did it!!

We told them we would do our best to supply all the items they thought were important to add to our celebration.

  1. Mia was a little shocked that she had to move tables to set up for Shabbat. But then finally came around, and she took great pride in having set up the Shabbat candles. I think tomorrow's Shabbat celebration will have extra meaning for the students because THEY helped set it up!
