Go down, Moses...

Our Passover learning is in full swing! We have begun reading stories, singing songs and asking lots of questions about this holiday. The children have discovered a few similarities between Passover and the recent holiday of Purim. They both have "bad guys" - Haman and Pharoah - and there are triangles to be found on Haman's hat and in the pyramids that some believe the Jewish slaves built. It is exciting to see our children making connections with what they have learned!

Today, we talked about Miriam and her mother's choice to put her brother, Moses, in a basket that would float down the River Nile so that he might be safe and out of harms way. The children listened intently and all wanted a turn to wrap our own baby Moses in a blanket and place him in the basket. They took great care and wanted to make sure he was comfy and cozy and that the basket would not tip over.

Later, we each had the opportunity to use egg carton sections, cotton balls, mini baby figures and scraps of fabric to create replicas of Moses in the basket.
