"I Need an Appointment"

The Levana children enjoy imaginative play with their office supplies, including keyboards, phones and clipboards. As these pictures were taken, Tina sat at one end of the table and modeled some telephone behavior, while the children responded to her requests for appointments of all types. Teacher involvement enriched and extended the play for the children by suggesting vocabulary and scenarios that are familiar, but managed by the adults in their lives. Assuming the roles of grown-ups at work is a favorite type of imaginative play; we see children engaged as parents, firefighters, builders and cooks in the various areas of our room.
