Ellen celebrated Havdalah with the Levana children in our classroom. Havdalah separates Shabbat from the beginning of the new week. Since we are not together on Saturday night, Havdalah is celebrated as a class on Monday morning. First we raise the Kiddush cup filled with grape juice and sing the blessing. Next, we lift the besameem box (spice box) and sing it's blessing. We all sniff the sweet scent of our cinnamon sticks. Then the lit braided candle is held high as we say the final blessing. The candle is then extinguished and we all wish each other a "Shavua Tov"- a good week with song and dance.
How cool is it that you are exposing our kids to ritual at such a young age. They are so engaged!!
