A local author has an important message
If you haven't yet read Ish by Peter Reynolds, you really should. It has a great message. The message is that nothing in this world is perfect or just right. Every creation is unique and special, and should be valued for what it is. In this book it wasn't until the little boy saw that his sister had rescued every drawing he had made and thrown out, that he was able to relax enough to just create. Your vase may not look just like a vase but it's "vaseish". Your fish is "fishish", and your tree is "treeish." And they are all great she said. This freed the little boy up enough to return to his creative work which he now accepted as good enough but not perfect. I wasn't sure at first if the children would get the message right away but they did. I highly recommend this book as well as Peter Reynold's other books. He also owns a book store in Dedham Center that is well worth visiting. You will be sure to meet him there.
