The Final Step

The last step of creating our Afikoman bags was to put them together. How was this done? Nancy brought in her sewing machine and the Rainbows got to see some sewing in action. Many of the children had never seen a sewing machine before, so there was a high interest level with a big crowd gathered around to see what this machine was all about. Nancy patiently showed each child how this sewing process was accomplished and told them step by step what she was doing as each piece of felt was stitched. "When is it going to be my turn?", they asked with everyone eager to see this exciting process in action. "Well, let's make a list of everyone's names on the chalkboard and then we will tell you when it will be your turn.", the teachers replied. The children were then satisfied and readily watched as each child's turn arrived. They got to see first hand their work of art created into a special Afikoman bag to be used at the Seder. Thank you Nancy for bringing in your sewing machine and showing us the intricate process of sewing!
