"Black Deaf" Written and Illustrated by Isaiah

Today our first author went up on stage with his story and drawing and chose the part he wanted to play. I read the story a few times for the group to notice each of the roles before the rest of the cast was decided. Melissa and I helped cast the parts, making sure everyone who wanted to be involved had a role to play. Some of the children eagerly raised their hands; Isaiah the author was Black Deaf, Ruby was the Snake and Aden was the Bad Guy. The group took some time thinking about appropriate costumes and then had a very quick dress rehearsal before they acted out Isaiah's story (Black Deaf) for their friend and teachers.

Black Deaf
This is part one. Black Deaf is a bad guy and he is a mean person, and that is him in the picture. This weird guy keeps following his hose! The snake always follows Black Deaf's footprints. This is a "R" movie.

  1. Too funny! I am glad that you can appreciate his imagination-- he told me he wants to make horror movies someday (Rated R horror movies!) Also, his character is actually "Black Death" though I'm not sure that seems any more appropriate for age 4! :-)

  2. Just checked with Isaiah-- fyi the weird guy in his story keeps "falling into black holes" (not following his hose). but, of course! :-)

  3. I was wondering about the Black Deaf character. A very advanced and diverse character for a 4 year old. Oddly, Black Death seems more age appropriate. (That doesn't sound right.) And I like that he is up the R Rated movies.

On another note, this is such a cool activity!!! I can't to hear about more stories that get acted out! Could you compile the stories (or copies of them) and the photos, in some sort of book to showcase all your authors?
