Mystery Fruit

Posted by Picasa
Yesterday Ellen told the children that she had some 'mystery' fruits and asked if they would like her to bring them into the classroom. She came in with three bags. Each bag was filled with a different fruit. She gave three clues for each mystery bag. The children were then invited to ask questions to help solve this mystery. They needed to think about what additional information they might need to solve the mystery. Once they solved the mystery they were invited to 'taste'. As one can see by the facial expressions the mystery fruits some children had clear opinion about the taste. Their facial expression may help you solve some of these mysteries. Some boys and girls asked about color, shape, texture. Bag # 1 1) It is red inside, orange on the outside 2) It is similar to a grapefruit 3) It is a citrus fruit Can you guess what fruit is in the bag?? Bag #2 1) Grow in Italy 2) Green in the middle 3) Grows on a tree Can you guess what fruit is in the bag?? Bag #3 1) Make a drink out of it 2) It has a peel 3) Peel has holes and it is bumpy Can you guess what is in the bag?? If you don't know and need additional clues, please ask. The boys and girls were encouraged to bring in their very own mystery fruit and think of some clues to give their classmates.
