We have been learning about Chinese New Year this week in the Unicorn classroom. As it is the Year of the Dragon, we made dragon puppets, and learned a New Year song (Gung Hai Fat Choy). Today we ate dumplings and oranges. Dumplings symbolize prosperity in the new year and oranges are eaten for a sweet new year (which reminded us of apples and honey!) The Unicorn children were all quite sure that they had never eaten Chinese food before (?!), and not everyone wanted to try the dumplings. The delicious aroma got the better of them, and soon everyone was sampling this delicious Chinese New Year treat! We all agree we will have them again soon!
