Many of us are BRAVE

This week our discussion of MLK Jr. and Rosa Parks has led us to talk about what it means to be brave. After reading BRAVE IRENE (see the blog of 1/11/12) the children told us what it means to them to be brave. Here are their very astute answers. Bravery is:
Alana-When you see something scary and you don't cry.
Alli-When you are in a dark room with your Mommy at a friend's house and you aren't scared.
Aviva-Rosa Parks was brave.
Avram-When it was my birthday and I went on something that went really high and I wasn't scared.
Drew-I was in bed and saw a shadow of a dog and I wasn't scared.
Eli-Sometimes at night when I'm asleep and I see a flashing light I am scared.
Jacob-I am not scared of a bear.
Jake-If someone does something not nice and you say it doesn't hurt.
Leo-I was brave when I rode a roller coaster.
Lily-When you are in a cave and run out.
Ryan-If you are scared of something but it really isn't anything.
Rylan-If you are in the dark and you aren't scared.
Sadie-You have to be brave when you have to do something you don't want to.
Sara-Being brave is when you are not scared of something.
Zack-If you're in a dark cave and you think there's a bear in there and you don't run out.
