Thank you Angela, Rebecca, and Teddy Friedman
The Kohavim boys and girls have been building with different materials; building cities, roads, making maps, designing houses, and using their imaginations to create many adventures. Today we had a very special visitor who is studying architecture and is the GREATEST child sitter EVER. She is on her college break and volunteered her time to show us how buildings are made. In her class she starts with a model. We were able to use not only materials but our bodies to build a domes, and Teddy Friedman and Eric are demonstrating the 'buttress dome'. Then it was time to start our model house. Rebecca, Teddy's mom came to help as well. It was a lot of work, cutting, tapping, and most of all it took team work. Boys and girls helped one another; as it took teamwork to hold up the sides while the other person taped the sides together. Then came the final touches on their houses, making each unique. We later created a city. Stay tuned for more.
A BIG thank you to Rebecca and Angela for coming in, and Teddy for sharing them with us. We have a great start to more building experiences.

What a fantastic experience and use of an expert. Mia told me all about it and excitedly showed me her house! This really had a wonderful impact on her. (And as a side note, I love that your architect expert was female. Just an added bonus!)
