Making Cooperation a Game

Since the Haifa kids spent so much time in the book corner today, Sauci and I decided that we didn't need to read another book at the end of the day. Instead, we decided to pull out an old favorite, the block game!! The rules of the game are simple. Each child needs to wait his or her turn, and when it is their turn, they go and get a block from the shelf. They then add a block to the stack that is being made in the middle of the rug, only touching the blocks below with the block in their hand. The goal of the game is to get the tower as high as we can before the tower falls over. Today we made the tallest tower we have ever made! We got through all 21 of our small square block, and added seven more miniature blocks on top, bringing our tower to 28 blocks before it fell! Sauci and I were so happy to see that despite having a long time away from one another, our class hasn't forgotten how to work together and cheer one another on.
