Where's Winter?

The Levana children have read a lot of wintery books (The Snowy Day, Froggy Gets Dressed, Sadie and the Snowman, among others) and are wondering if we will see any snow or ice this year. Today we had some winter fun with a block of ice and some cold weather creatures, our polar bears and penguins. The children engaged in some fun imaginative play and dialog with one another, including assigning parent/child roles to the animals, naming some of them, and spinning the ice to see who would fall off. We enjoyed reading Tacky the Penguin so much that the children requested another reading, and were just as attentive to the encore!

  1. Very fun! Im guessing you must have done this again today because Eliana came home telling me she played with ice. She told me the whole process of how you made the ice and it took so long you had to go to sleep to wait for it! (not sure if you shared it with the kids or it's her own version!) She talked about the ice throughout her entire lunch today!
