Shofar trees?
Today we showed the children a picture of a forest with trees curving and leaning rather than standing straight up. It was forest in Poland. The picture was given to us by the Markleys. Mia calls the trees "Shofar trees" since that is what they resemble to her. The other children agreed, and it was hard to get them to "switch gears" and think about why the trees might have grown to look that way. One child said: "maybe it's because of how the seeds were planted", another thought was that "they might still straighten up." We will continue to show the children the photograph and see what other ideas it generates.

Isn't this a cool picture? A friend from work found it online and shared it with me. My husband was smart enough to bring it in to share and you guys have turned into such a wonderful creative thinking experience!
