This series of photos shows just how much coordination is required in order to be successful at play on the climber. Audrey employs strength, balance, and awareness of her body in space to negotiate the levels on the climber as she approaches the slide. Hands, feet, eyes, arms, legs, hips, and shoulders all contribute to the required movements. Once she is in position and ready to go, she has to have the confidence to let go and slide down. The reward, of course, is the thrill of the ride. Audrey clearly enjoyed this challenge, which she chose to repeat numerous times this morning.
Beautifully written post and the photos really do show how complex such a seemingly simple activity can be. Thanks for sharing it with us!
ReplyDeleteOne of the greatest joys of parenthood (and teacher-hood!) is to view the world as our children do: with wonderment, excitement, inquisitiveness and confidence (and just a little bit of trepidation). It is our greatest responsibility - and our greatest reward - to encourage and celebrate all of our childrens' attempts and accomplishments.
ReplyDeleteOur family has been so impressed with TBSCC's devotion to this process. Thank you so much for sharing this moment with us, Nancy. It really made our morning! :)
