Today was a very special day in the Tel Aviv class. Karen Euse came and visited our class and she brought lots of…PASTA! First we read Strega Nona a wonderful book by Tommi De Paula about a witch who has a magical pasta pot. We pretended to have our own pasta pot and when we were done with the book Karen showed us how we can paint with pasta! We painted with both cooked and uncooked spaghetti noodles and it was so neat how the different noodles leaded themselves to different kinds of paint strokes. We painted hats from, “The Cat in the Hat” to honor Dr. Sussus birthday. After we were done painting we had a delicious pasta snack! Karen even brought cheese and sauce to make our snack extra yummy. The kids loved being able to explore pasta through a story, a project and through their sense of taste. Thanks so much Karen for creating such a neat project to share with our class! We had a great time!
I love Strega nona. Now I will have to dig that one up and read it at home.
