From Small to Large

During second circle today, we did an activity involving eleven pumpkin gourds. The skill that we focused on during this game was to place the gourds from the smallest to the largest. A medium sized gourd was placed in the middle of the children's circle. Then one by one the children were called up to place the gourd which he/she chose in the proper place according to its size.

Once the activity was completed, we looked closely at the line of gourds to determine if they were in the proper order from smallest to largest. The children worked as a unit to decide if any changes should be made. They made three changes and all agreed that the picture that you see here is the order that the gourds should be in.

It was impressive to see the children individually place the gourds and then work together and come to a unanimous decision about their final product.
