The Rainbow class made an apple cake on Tuesday. They measured, sifted, stirred, and combined the ingredients. The sifter presented a bit of a challenge. Turning the handle in a circular motion was unfamiliar, but the children worked at it. Each child had an opportunity to help out, and each one also shared the task with others. It was wonderful to see such patience and cooperation when the children have been together in class just a few times due to our recent holidays! Once the cake was baked, we enjoyed the aroma as we waited for it to cool. The children relished the results of their work at snack time.

Apple cake, Apple cake, Bake me a cake!

And boy did it smell good. I love that you introduced them to the sifter. It's not something most of us use these days (at least not me), so I bet it was interesting to test out a new tool.
ReplyDeleteHaha, Nathan told us they made apple sauce, not apple cake. But he was very excited about the spinny spinny thing. Apparently, it goes around and around.
ReplyDeleteJenny- I think they made applesauce the week before so Nathan may have been correct.
