Using Real Tools to Explore Pumpkins and Wood

The Tel Aviv All Stars had great fun hammering nails into wood while outside, and doing the same to pumpkins in the classroom. When asked which activity was easier, some children thought the wood was a harder substance whereas others thought the pumpkin was. Over the next week or two, we shall be working with and learning a lot more about pumpkins. We are reading books about the life cycle of the pumpkin while exploring it firsthand by cutting into it, removing and counting the seeds, baking the seeds, making pumpkin muffins, composting any remains of the pumpkin, and finally planting a few seeds to complete the cycle.
The pumpkins were such a great attraction that some of the children chose to have snack around the pumpkin table.
