Space

Many of you may remember hearing about the lunar eclipse that occurred on December 21, 2010. This rare event spurred interest in space! So off the Scientists went...to space! We completed a lot of different activities to help us explore the different aspects of space. One of the first things we did with this unit included was drawing what we thought space looked like. Now, we realized that space probably wouldn't look right on white paper, so we opted for black. And then we noticed that markers, crayons, and colored pencils don't show up very well on the black paper, so we continued our experiments of drawing with chalk on construction paper. The drawings that the children came up with were beautiful, and their stories were so great, we wrote down exactly what they drew so that everyone could enjoy our visions of the final frontier!

  1. Wow! It is apparent that the children know a lot about outer space. It is amazing how that knowledge is represented via their pictures.
