Made with Love
Good things happen on Shabbat. On a recent Friday, Leo, at play in the housekeeping area, was about to recite the blessings, but realized that our challah plate was missing.
"What happened to it?" We weren't sure. Maybe someone borrowed it, or maybe it was just misplaced.
"Well maybe we should make one. What can we use to make one?" We had paper plates, and we had stickers. Leo worked for a long time, peeling stickers off their backing (a challenging small motor task), and arranging them on the plate. When he was satisfied with his design, he said,
"Maybe we should make a cover." Plain paper, more stickers, and more effort. Finally, the plate and challah cover were decorated in a way that satisfied. Leo arranged the challah on the plate, covered it, and said the blessing. A beautiful creation, and a very moving process to witness.
