Which fruit do you like best?

As part of our Tu B' Shevat activities this week, the Haifa All Stars did a fruit tasting of some of the fruits usually eaten during this holiday of celebrating the birthday of the trees. Each child was given blueberries, grapes, figs, dates and apricots. We also made our own beverage for the occasion, orange juice lemonade, for which we squeezed the lemons and oranges by hand and then used an electric squeezer.

As you can see by the chart, grapes were the run away favorite of the class with blueberries coming in second.

Unfortunately, figs could not even get one vote. A fair amount of the children had never tasted dates or figs before so it was good to see them venture out and try something new. We will continue to concentrate on trying new foods that are good from you when we talk about nutrition and what we need to do to keep our bodies healthy next week.
