Inch by Inch

The Garden Song by John Denver is a classic from my childhood and it's been sung quite a bit around TBSCC as we prepared for and celebrated Tu B'Shevat together last week.  Today Josh brought a book illustrating the song verse by verse. As he introduced the words and walked the children through the book, there were so many new words and ideas to talk about.  What is a rake?  How about a hoe?  And what is fertile ground?  New vocabulary, a well known song, and an invitation to pat the rhythm made this a hit.  We are still working on learning all of the words, but please sing along with us.

The Garden Song

Inch by inch, row by row
Gonna make this garden grow
All it takes is a rake and a hoe
And a piece of fertile ground
Inch by inch, row by row
Someone bless these seeds I sow
Someone warm them from below
'Til the rain comes tumbling down
