Sunshines Celebrate Israel

Following Pesach, the Sunshines are interested in where the Jews went after they left Egypt. We are now talking about Israel, the homeland of the Jewish people. We are learning that Israel's birthday is in May, and that this is a time of celebration and pride. With our youngest children, we celebrate Yom HaAtzma'ut by playing Hebrew music, reading about Israel (we are reading Ella Goes to Israel), playing with the colors blue and white, and creating some concrete Israeli symbols such as flags. Ali and Ezra made flags to bring home to siblings; other flags are now flying atop a classroom straw sculpture.
