All Star Gross Motor Fun!

Mother Nature made it a necessity for us move our gross time into the community room. The All Star children warmed up their bodies with "Hokey Pokey." Then we picked up the pace with a movement activity/song called "Sammy." It is goes like this..."This is a song about Sammy his father sent him out to buy bread, Sammy didn't fell like walking, he wished he could fly, crawl, swim, gallop, squirm, run, etc... instead."

For the grand finale we played "Beat the Clock." This is a sorting and team building game (consider using this game at home as a tool for clean up time.) The children have to work together to sort a variety of toys(beanbags, balls, foam blocks, plastic shapes) that are spread on the floor throughout the room. Then they place them in the appropriate hoop (the bean bag hoop, ball hoop, etc). One of the best things about this game is that the children have to sort all the toys before the clock buzzer goes off! It always amazes me how every time we play this game the children are come together as a team to beat the clock! FYI I am the the clock... Tick, tick tick, tock!
