Housekeeping or Keeping House

The housekeeping area of our room is very popular with children assuming various roles of the mother, father, child or magician, train conductor, etc. The children not only assume play roles but also assume roles in keeping house. The sensory table is adjacent to housekeeping. This week we have oatmeal in the table. As often happens, some of the oatmeal spilled on the floor. Several children wanted to clean it up. They worked cooperatively with Daniel sweeping with the big broom, someone else holding the dustpan and a third child using the smaller broom. In no time, the oatmeal was cleaned up and they were back to their roles in housekeeping.
