A Musical Havdallah
We all love it when Josh joins us for Havdallah and we sing the familiar songs with him. Today Teddy Post was our Havdallah helper/"stick person" and will continue to be our helper and line leader all week. In our class we have a tradition of writing a child's name on a colored stick. Every Friday we randomly select one of those sticks, and the child whose name is on the stick is our "stick person" for the week. I suppose we could come up with a better name for that honor in the future. The child who is chosen is always very excited, and some children say they wait all week for the time to select the stick person. Yet another way in which Shabbat is special in our classroom. Today was an especially fun day since right after Havdallah we joined Josh for music. Josh has a unique way of engaging all of the children in singing along with him. Our kids continued to sing:"We're happy, happy, happy...." for the rest of the morning!
