Popicle Sticks Glalore!

At the art table today we had lots of sticks that we could build and glue with. Tel Aviv kids made houses, shapes and patterns with the variety of materials. I was impressed with how focused they were as they carefully stacked and glued the materials. These Tel Aviv builders were hard at work!

After a lot of art time, some of the Tel Aviv kids started to use the sticks for a new purpose…to pick the stick person!  They grabbed a handful of popsicle sticks and closed their eyes and would recite, “the stick person for the week is…?” and then shout a name! This game happened repeatedly and many kids got a chance to both pick the stick person and be the stick person.  It was fascinating to see how the patterns of our classroom have become part of their imaginary play and it’s great that being the stick person is something that is so exciting and holds value to each of them.

This week Samantha is our stick person and she had a lot of fun both playing the game but also knowing that at the end of the week she will be the one who gets to take Chester home at the end of the week!
