Moving on...

Although we just got back from a yummy and relaxing Thanksgiving holiday, the Shamayim children have already begun talking about the next big holiday - Chanukah!  To get us started, we read a short book called My First Chanukah and talked about a few important facts - Chanukah lasts for 8 days, we light the candles in the menorah each night with the "helper candle" or Shamash, we eat lots of food cooked in oil (not just latkes) and many of us play the dreidel game.

We made the first of many menorahs today.  We started off by looking at the instruction card which told us to pick one large popsicle stick and 8 smaller ones.

Later, we used glue to create or own personal and unique menorahs.

Some children opted for a traditional four candles on each side of the Shamash - while others took a more modern/pile them on top of each other look.
