Chanukah excitement

Today we put out our wooden Chanukah ritual toys. There is a menorah, a frying pan with a latke, Chanukah gelt, etc. We were in the room for a few minutes when the children noticed the new items in the kitchen area. Almost immediately they played "Chanukah" by lighting the candles, saying a blessing (of sorts) and taking turns holding the menorah and lighting the candles. The children are very aware that the holiday is coming soon. Beginning tomorrow we will all learn the reasons that we celebrate Chanukah.
