Someone's in the Kitchen...

As the Keshet children are developing the language and skills needed for meaningful interactive play with peers, they sometimes play happily solo, or side by side, with little actual interaction. As teachers, we love to play alongisde the children, helping to develop an understanding of what friendly behavior looks and sounds like, and focusing attention on the friendly overtures of others. Allison was happily feeding one of the babies some lunch, when a surprise visitor appeared. She recognized the humor in this situation and welcomed the snake and his handler. These little moments build a foundation for the children to begin playing interactively with one another.
