I have always enjoyed teaching children at this age. Whether in Israel or in America, the children all have such a special thirst for knowledge about the world. Everything you teach them is absorbed into their lives and I like to think that they benefit from each day in class. They are like little sponges that are ready to drink in life and learning.
We are still creating a special experience for our children, and we always trying to learn and improve on guiding the children’s development in important new skills. I am always amazed at how quickly they grow in mind and spirit at this age, and the big changes that happen between September and June each year.
As a teacher my goal is to provide a place where children feel valued. I believe that children have the right to be listened to and feel that they are part of the classroom experience and the community. In working with families, I strive to facilitate a strong sense of community and belonging as well. I believe that all children are by nature curious and creative and that learning can occur at every moment.
As a Jewish educator, I support Jewish living and learning both for the children and for their families. One of my overall goals is to strengthen the ties to Jewish values and practices.
Just like the mythical Unicorn, in the Unicorn class, we consider each child to be precious and wonderful creature. It is our mission as teachers, to nurture their growth and development during this magical time in their lives. We create a healthy and nurturing environment for our children each day.
I may set this photo as the background on my computer. ;) Love you Smadar!
