Stop, drop, and roll

Jay Green knew just what to do if any part of him caught on fire. The firemen were impressed. Many of the children knew to call 911, and a handful were able to accurately state their address. The firemen said that it was important to know your address. They also told the children to make sure to get outside at the first sign of any smoke or fire. They reassured the children that the firemen would be sure to go into the house to rescue any pets. The children were so excited to see the trucks, walk inside one of them, see the firemen suit up, and especially to see them slide down the pole. They had many questions which the firemen were glad to answer. In particular they were happy to hear that there was actually a Dalmatian at the other station! To top off the morning, every child got a red plastic fire hat to take home. I'm sure we will hear a lot more about our visit during the rest of the week. We made need to get more firemen clothes for our dramatic play area.
