The Mitzvot and Traditions of Passover
The Mitzvot and Traditions of Passover
- It is a mitzvah to participate in a Passover Seder.
- It is a mitzvah to eat matzah and to avoid chamietz
- It is a tradition to ask questions on Passover.
Over the last few weeks the Tel Aviv All Stars teachers have made a conscious effort to encourage the children to experience, question, and come to understand Pesach!
Most days we post a QUESTION OF THE DAY? At our first or second circle we read the question and then together we have discussion.
The following are a list of some of the questions we have asked and discussed with the children:
- Why did Moses and the Israelites want to leave Egypt?
- What is wheat?
- Why do we dip parsley in salt water on Passover?
- Who led the Israelites out of Egypt?
- What else will float (besides baby Moses in the basket)?
- What is freedom?
- What is the name of the special Passover matzah?
- If you were one of the Israelites leaving Egypt, what would bring with you on the long journey?
