At havdalah this week we had a new ritual object. In addition to the beautiful silver spice box, we added a basket full of cinnamon sticks. Zachary, Brett, and Aleeza were our havdalah helpers and they walked around the circle, passing a cinnamon stick to each person in our circle. We said the blessing and spelled the spicy sticks, starting our weeks with a little bit of sweetness.Baruch ata Adonai, Eloheinu Melekh ha-olam, borei minei v'samim.
Blessed are You, Adonai our God, Ruler of the universe, Creator of many kinds of spices.
