As Rabbi Todd approached the ark during our Shabbat service this morning, the children were ready. They knew just what to do. When the torah comes out of the ark, we stand to greet it, just as we would greet a friend coming to our home. By watching this ritual in action we learn the power of a simple framework in giving the children instructions on how to respect tradition and allowing them to be true participants in Jewish worship experiences.
