Our Friend Chester

Where do I begin? At the beginning of the school year we read The Kissing Hand, which is a story about a raccoon named Chester, and his first day of school. I brought my son's raccoon to school that day; who happens to look just like Chester,to help me help me read the story . It was love at first sight! We all fell in love with Chester! Teddy Fox said, "I have a raccoon at home who looks just like Chester! " Needless to say Teddy now calls his raccoon Chester. Mia, has her very own Chester to love and cuddle with at home each and everyday! We just can't get enough of our friend Chester! Every Friday the "stick person" can take Chester home for the entire weekend.
The following are excerpts from Chester's Journal :

• Sunday- October 24, 2010 "Teddy brought Chester home for the weekend! Chester came to soccer and to see a move. Teddy loved cuddling with Chester."


• Friday- October 30, 2010 "After Chester's exciting afternoon with Mia and Papi, he packed up and traveled to CT with Mia, Adam, and Mommy for a visit to Auntie Amy and Uncle Dan's. We slept over for 2 nights and Chester loved his bed. On Saturday, we went to Mystic and fed some ducks, Chester also came to the playground with us but waited in the car."


• Saturday-November 6,2010 " Chester had an awesome time at our home! We snuggled with Chester and red books with Chester. Nathaniel really likes loves Chester! When Teddy came over for a play date, he played with Chester too. We are going to miss him sooo much and hope that you have fun with him too."


• Sunday- November 14, 2010 "Chester had an awesome weekend with the Ruby! On Friday night Chester celebrated Shabbat with us-Mommy even cooked a Shabbat dinner!! We lit the candles, and said the prayers. On Saturday, Chester came to Bagel's Best for lunch, he really enjoyed sharing Ruby's chocolate chip bagel! That night he got to hang out with Ruby, her sisters and the babysitter. I think Chester got to play the Wii! We loved having Chester over to play for the weekend-we tried to show him a good time!"
• Sunday-November 21, 2010 " Chester was not feeling well and was having problems with his arms. Julia and Sam noticed some separations under his two front arms so we decided to have him rest on Shabbat. On Saturday after some mild play it was decided he would need surgery. For Saturday dinner we all had challah, soup and chicken, to allow Chester to gain some strength for his upcoming procedure."
• Tuesday- November 23,2010 "Aaron's family had the distinct pleasure of welcoming Chester to spend the whole Thanksgiving Holiday weekend with us! Aaron was so excited to bring Chester home from school on Tuesday. Aaron introduced Chester to the whole family including his pillow pet named Pillow Pet Doggy Doggy Puppy! Aaron, Chester, and Pillow Pet Doggy Doggy Puppy did everything together! We had a great time with Chester and hope he did too! We were very thankful to have Chester spend Thanksgiving with us!"
